About Small Shindigs / Sarah Carroll

Small Shindigs is a wedding planning company that focuses exclusively on intimate weddings — specifically, guest counts under 100. That specialization is the whole point. Sarah Carroll built the business around the idea that smaller weddings need a different approach than large-scale events, and the services reflect that focus.

Sarah’s event industry background spans over a decade, starting in hospitality with a hotel and restaurant group in NYC, then the New Museum, and later corporate and marketing events in the tech world. That progression through different event types gives her range — she understands hospitality operations, creative environments, and production logistics.

Small Shindigs offers planning from full-service through day-of coordination. They also have all-inclusive packages for very small weddings (under 20 guests) that bundle planning, catering, photography, flowers, and an officiant. That kind of package removes the vendor coordination burden entirely for couples who want to keep things simple.

Sarah is the sole point of contact throughout the planning process. You’re not handed off between team members or working with whoever happens to be available. That direct relationship means she knows your wedding, your preferences, and your vendors without needing to be briefed.

The company serves New York and New Jersey, including the Hudson Valley and Catskills. For couples planning a smaller wedding at a Hudson Valley wedding venue or a Catskills wedding venue, Small Shindigs is built for exactly that. The intimate wedding focus means Sarah thinks about the details that matter at smaller events — things like how to create energy with 50 guests instead of 200, and how to choose a venue that fits the scale without feeling empty.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Small Shindigs only work with very small weddings?

They specialize in weddings under 100 guests. That includes everything from micro weddings of 10-20 people up to more moderately sized events of 80-100. If you’re above 100, this may not be the right fit.

What's included in the all-inclusive micro wedding package?

The package bundles planning and day-of coordination, catering for up to 20 guests, 3 hours of photography, flowers, and an officiant. Contact Sarah directly for current pricing and customization options.

What is the difference between a wedding planner and a day-of coordinator?

A full planner helps with everything from venue selection and vendor hiring to design and budget management, starting months before the wedding. A day-of coordinator takes over the timeline and logistics for the actual wedding day and usually comes on 4-6 weeks before to review details. Partial planning falls in between.

How far in advance should I hire a wedding planner?

For full planning, hire 12-18 months before the wedding. For partial planning, 9-12 months. For day-of coordination, 4-6 months minimum, though earlier is better since popular coordinators book out.
