Let’s Talk About Your Hudson Valley Wedding
Joshua responds to every inquiry personally. No assistants, no auto-replies. Just the person who’ll actually photograph your wedding. Whether you’re still browsing photographers or you’ve already set a date, we’d love to hear what you’re planning. Every wedding is different, and the best way to figure out if we’re the right fit is a quick, honest conversation.
Most of our couples find us through word of mouth or by spending time on our galleries. If something about the work resonated with you — the warmth, the real emotion, the way we photograph people rather than poses — that’s exactly the kind of connection we’re looking for. Reach out however feels most comfortable, and we’ll take it from there.
How to Reach Us
Text: 845-335-8688 — fastest response. Most couples start here. You’ll hear back within a few hours, and it’s the easiest way to check date availability or ask a quick question.
Email: inquiries@joshuabrownphotography.com — best for detailed questions. If you want to share your venue, your vision, or anything else that helps us understand your day, email gives you the space to do that.
Call: 845-335-8688 — leave a message if no answer. We’re often on location, but we return every call, usually the same day.
What Happens After You Reach Out
1. We confirm your date is available — usually within a few hours. If your date is open, we’ll let you know right away. If it’s already booked, we’ll suggest alternatives or help you think through backup options.
2. We have a real conversation — a quick call or chat to make sure we’re a good fit. No pressure, no sales pitch. We’ll ask about your venue, your timeline, and what matters most to you. You’ll get a feel for how we work and whether our style matches your vision.
3. We send a transparent proposal — with real numbers, no hidden fees, and no inflated packages designed to upsell you. Everything is à la carte so you only pay for what you actually want.
4. A 30% retainer and signed contract locks in your date. That’s it. No complicated onboarding process, no hoops to jump through. Once you’re booked, your date is yours — and we’ll be in touch as your wedding day gets closer to make sure everything goes smoothly.
Questions We Get a Lot
Q: Do you travel outside the Hudson Valley?
A: Absolutely. We’ve shot weddings in NYC, Connecticut, the Berkshires, Vermont, and plenty of places beyond. Travel fees are flat-rate and fully transparent — no surprise charges ever. If you’re planning a destination wedding or an elopement somewhere beautiful and remote, we’re genuinely excited by those calls. Just reach out and tell us where you’re thinking, and we’ll send the travel details right away.
Q: Can we meet in person before booking?
A: Of course. We’re based in Newburgh and happy to meet for coffee. We also do video calls if that’s easier for you. Most couples find that a 20-minute call covers everything they need to feel confident. If you prefer to meet face to face before committing, we completely understand. Either way, we want you to feel like you know us before you sign a contract.
Q: How quickly do you respond?
A: Texts within a few hours, emails within 24 hours. During busy season we’re on the road a lot, but we’re always checking messages. If you reach out on a Friday afternoon before a wedding weekend, there may be a slight delay — but we’ll always get back to you. We’d rather take a few extra hours and give you a real answer than fire off something rushed that doesn’t actually help.
Q: My partner is camera-shy. Is that a problem?
A: Not even a little. Most people are camera-shy. That’s exactly why we use a documentary approach — you don’t have to perform for the camera because we’re not asking you to. We’ll give you something to do, somewhere to walk, a moment to focus on — and the camera disappears. By the end of the day, even the most reluctant partners are usually surprised by how natural their photos look.
Q: Do you shoot things other than weddings?
A: Yes — elopements, family sessions, headshots, and videography. Each service has its own page with full details on what’s included and what it costs. If you’re booking a wedding and want to add an engagement session or family portraits beforehand, we can bundle those together. It’s a great way to get comfortable in front of the camera before the big day.
Q: How much does wedding photography cost?
A: Photography starts at $4,500 for a 7-hour day. We price à la carte — add a second photographer ($1,500), videography ($4,500), an engagement session ($1,250), or other services based on what you actually need. Peak-season Saturdays have a $5,500 minimum. We don’t bundle things you don’t want or pad the price with extras. Check our pricing page for the complete breakdown of every option.
Q: Do you include a second photographer?
A: A second photographer is a $1,500 add-on. Most of our full wedding day couples choose to add one — it’s worth every dollar for ceremony angles and simultaneous getting-ready coverage. Two photographers mean we never have to choose between capturing the groom’s reaction and the bride’s entrance down the aisle. If your venue is large or your day runs long, we’d strongly recommend it.
P.S. — We book up. Not saying that to create fake urgency — we shoot about 25 weddings a year and the Hudson Valley wedding scene is genuinely busy. Popular dates — especially fall Saturdays — can fill up well over a year out. If you’re thinking about reaching out, reach out now. The worst we can say is “that date’s taken, but let’s talk about alternatives.” We’d rather have that conversation than leave you scrambling later.
If you’ve made it this far down the page, you’re probably a good fit. People who read the whole thing tend to be the ones who care about the details — about who’s behind the camera, how the process works, and what the photos will actually look like. That’s exactly who we like to work with. So go ahead and reach out. We’ll get back to you quickly, and we’re looking forward to hearing about your plans.
