Emily and Bhaskar's wedding at Hasbrouck included a full Hindu ceremony — the aarti ritual under the mandap, the sindoor ceremony through a floral garland, Bhaskar's father receiving a tilak blessing before things got underway. Emily's processional happened under a parasol, and the reception's long farm table was set with floral centerpieces for guests who showed up in red sarees and traditional dress. I've photographed a handful of Hindu ceremonies over the years, and they give me more to work with than a typical processional-vows-recessional format — more ritual, more color, more relatives with a clear job to do.
