Hudson Valley Wedding Photographers
You are not content. In a world increasingly run by algorithms, authentic unposed photography is being replaced by the never-ending pursuit of likes and “engagement.” Almost all photographers have incredible cameras and Ai tools to make beautiful photographs for you. Not many of them can capture organic moments and storytelling images. We hope you’ll take a minute to browse through our galleries and get a sense of the type of images we feel tell a story.
Joshua’s top priority is capturing as many different faces as possible on your wedding day as unobtrusively and efficiently as he can. From the wallflowers and cute kids to the crazy uncles and old roommates. The images you get back should be warm and vibrant, but not overly processed. Fundamentally, Joshua believes the story of your love is the foundation of the day. While you will certainly be the center of attention, it is not entirely about you and your wedding photos should reflect that.
The Hudson Valley is an unbelievably beautiful location to have a wedding, and you’re going to look great, but your photographer must have the skills to really capture the essence of your day beyond the most obvious. Joshua and his team are unmatched in their ability to capture unposed moments that will make you feel something as you look at them decades from now while telling a story through the expressions of your closest friends and family.
Our Favorite Weddings
We hope you’ll take a moment to browse through a few of our favorites and get a sense of what types of images we feel tell a full wedding story. You’ll see a few detail shots, you’ll see some posed photos requested by moms, and you’ll see some tears. We hope this gives you a better sense of the kinds of images we consistently produce in some of the top wedding locations in the Hudson Valley and Catskills.

About Joshua
Joshua is a photographer and filmmaker with over 25 years of wedding experience, based in New York’s Hudson Valley.
He is a former photojournalist from Tennessee who brings an unobtrusive and calm demeanor to every wedding. Although he primarily works in the Hudson Valley now, he has shot weddings all over the globe. He is capable of shooting both photos and videos for you. He is passionate about his community in Newburgh and spends a lot of time hiking with his family and his rescue dogs Skillet and Gravy. He cares more about capturing genuine moments between you and your friends and family than getting himself on another Pinterest board. He will never be an influencer and he is totally at peace with that.
Top 6 Reasons to Hire Joshua
Photo and Video
Rather than deal with multiple wedding vendors for your photography, videography, and photo booth. Book it all through us and quit stressing about wedding planning.
48 Hour Turnaround
The days of waiting weeks or months for wedding photos are long gone. You will generally have your all of your photos back within a couple days thanks to the magic of Ai.
25 Years of Experience
Joshua knows where to be to capture moments. He makes images for you, not his Instagram feed. His relaxed and unobtrusive approach will put you at ease even when the timeline goes off the rails.
Low Light Specialist
Joshua excels in low light that can really be a technical challenge for many. He uses the latest technology to capture the romantic mood as you remember it, all without a flash or video light.
Moments Over Content
Weddings are more than posed pictures of the couple and their pretty stuff. Joshua’s portfolio is full of genuine candid moments, not a thousand photos of the dress hanging in the doorway.
Timeless Images
Joshua’s post-production and composition techniques are timeless. He is not going to force you into never-ending poses. Your photos should not be dated by their postproduction style.
Reviews
His knack for playing with lighting, posing, and shooting in dimly lit environments is amazing. I don't know much about photography, but I don't have to in order to appreciate the photos he captured for us.
Thank you, Joshua!
Joshua is professional and talented, and he prioritizes getting photos you want to look at and have in your home forever while letting you enjoy and really take in your day.
Marlon (photographer) and Nick (videographer) were a breeze to work with. We didn't do an engagement shoot or meet them before wedding day, but they were so easygoing and un-obtrusive that it didn't matter. We just got to experience our wedding day - ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception - for the most part, oblivious to their movements and presence (other than getting ready photos and posed family photos). Receiving the gallery only ~2 weeks after the wedding was also a joy - they have such a fast turnaround time!
We were blown away by the gallery that they created. They did such a beautiful job capturing our wedding day. We loved all of the moments captured so naturally - meaningful, candid, heartfelt, hilarious, and everything in between. Us giggling in church, details of my outfits, a friend lovingly feeding his daughter, tears, laughter - the "in between" moments. They allowed us a glimpse into what our loved ones' experience of the day was when we weren't able to see them all in real time - their reactions, their joy, their laughter. They even captured the staging of a gorgeous desserts table which I completely missed - the pastry chef tossed powdered sugar on the table like Jackson Pollock! I had no idea that even happened on our wedding day, but I got to experience the drama and beauty of it through the photography.
Marlon used the lighting of the day and at the venue so well without needing to rely on heavy post-processing. Our loved ones have also been commenting on how much they love the gallery.
If capturing intimate moments at your wedding, rather than dramatically staged shots with lots of editing, is your goal - then Joshua Brown and his associates are the way to go.
